I've been trying to put a new system together but can't get it to power up... I'm using a new Coolermaster Real Power 1000w Modular Power Supply bought from OcUK. When I hit the power button on the case nothing happens
(however there are leds on the MB) .. I've double checked leads, switch etc but no luck.

There is a Red LED on the back of the PSU which is on, however, there is no mention of this in the manual so I don't know what it means. I've sent coolermaster two emails but I've had no reply.

Just so I can rule this out, does anyone have one of these PSU's or know what the Red LED on the back means ??

Thanks

Jase

On mine the red led signifies the PSU is in standby mode. As soon as I press the power switch on the PC, the led turns to green.

Are you sure you've connected the power switch from the case to the right connection on the motherboard?

Thanks for the replies guys, as far as I know the Power switch from the case is connected correctly to the MB. The MB is an Asus striker Extreme, it also had block you can use for the switch, HD leds, reset etc I guess to make it easier... I'll double check though..

I don't have another PSU to try :(

i have two systems both using this psu. Never had any problems.

Red is standby, green is power on. Normally if there is a problem with this psu it will let out a variety of beeps.

Make sure your motherboard and psu are secure so to not create an electrical short. Clear you cmos and then try reconnecting the bare minimum components needed for a system boot noise (1 stick RAM, CPU+fan) and make sure all your components are correctly in place and secure. Make sure you have all the power points on the mobo connected, not just the main motherboard connector.

Double check you have the power switch for the mobo correctly installed, double check the +-

You can buy psu testers for a few quid if you want to be sure.

Thanks mate, just speaking to a friend of mine who has a PSU tester. I'm going to drop the system up to him tomorrow while I'm in work and he can test the PSU and maybe swap some stuff around. I've had the bits since Christmas and it's driving me nuts now..
