I recently bought a new mat to replace my OcUK XXL mat that was old, covered in paint and starting to split and fray at the front edge by the mouse - the area with the most activity.

Looking around, I saw that Coolermaster Swift-RXs were very similar, but with stitched edges to reduce this problem and they also did a variety of sizes including a 900mm wide one which is perfect to accommodate my keyboard, mouse and drink of choice.

They are available in four different sizes and any colour you want as long as it is black.

Packaging

It arrived in a rectangular box that was a tiny bit crumpled, courtesy of Royal Mail.

The Mat

Taking it out of the box you are greeted with that new smell that only box fresh products have.

Big, black and long.

The reverse has a non-slip coating.

Compatibility

Being from Coolermaster you may be thinking only Coolermaster keyboards and mice will work with this mat, but that is not true and my Ducky Fire 69 and Zowie EC1-A work like a dream on it. From this we can assume any other high quality keyboard-and-mouse combination will equally be at home on this mat.

Another important feature any mat must have is the ability to support drinks of all shapes and sizes, whether hot or cold. Fortunately, this Swift-RX mat is again 100% compatible with everything I have thrown at it.

Cider cans are no problem.

Empty glasses are laughed at.

Mugs that contain hot brews are just too easy for it.

Usage

So, on to gaming and specifically BF4 which I play a lot of. This mat excelled itself in every department, bringing up head-shot after head-shot with the MID sniper rifle and helping to take down helicopters and aeroplanes whilst using the AA.

Summing Up

In conclusion, the Coolermaster Swift-RX mat is a nice mat to use. I do wish this version was a touch deeper than 360mm but, other than that, it's a good product.

I would imagine so. but if you are after a red cider I would suggest getting "Red" instead.

You can get a 2 litre jug of Old Rosie for £4 - Pretty good for pretty nice cider tbh.

On topic - I wish the OcUK mats had stitched seams, the only thing putting me off buying one. The stitching makes a lot of difference in terms of longevity.

great review stulid this looks much better then the ocuk mega xl3 mats and with that stitching looks fixed !

I ditched my ocuk mega xl3 mat since the fronts flapped upwards and nothing put it down also put it in the wash due to it being a dust magnet and the water left patches galore.

Does this swift look water washable ? Those fibres look better and stronger I think.

I looked at the perixx 900mm X 400mm but checking the reviews after 6 months the edges start to fray and stick upwards (according to one rainforest user) and I believe him.

So its not better then the Ocuk mouse mats, the coolermaster swift however at least solves this problem or in theory its stitched edges hopefully do in 6 or 12 months time.

I also noticed the Perixx mouse mats use that same glossy black fibers similar to Ocuk mouse mats so I bet dust sticks on it like a magnet not to mention you run it under water and it will leave dull patches.

Big shame they do not make it bigger I don't think they will make bigger versions. Maybe one can buy 2 but that may flip out peoples OCD !

I have the Perixx DX-2000XXL (900x300 (yes, 300)) and it has stitched edges. I ordered it on the 26th of February and it's still going strong, not fraying in the slightest. I'm a pretty heavy user too.

I'm not sure what you mean about glossy black fibres, but mine requires a clean after a few months, I've washed it twice so far I think. I tended to just leave it soaking in the bath with some warm water then hang it out to dry, never failed me.

thanks again joe, yeah I double checked the DX-2000 and yeah has stitched edges, was looking at the dx-1000 which has none.

Yeah bit hard to explain the ocuk mouse mats have a shiny black fibre cloth type surface its almost plastic shiny but dust sticks to it very easily. I washed my ocuk mega xl in warm water in the bath tub but it left water stain marks everywhere, grey and dark patches.

The fibres look different on that dx-2000 and even the storm swift, I think ill try the swift its little wider see how it goes !

The Perixx has a heat treated surface for quick gliding and the control version is specially treated for precision control. As for dust it will settle anywhere regardless of surface type. It is just more visible on the OCUK mega mat as it is glossy.

If I was to buy another mouse mat I'd look at this one instead:
https://www.caseking.de/zowie-g-tf-x-big-soft-surface-mousepad-schwarz-gama-610.html

It's Case King so I can link to them. However the CM Swift does offer good value for money.

Good point about the dust and glossy ocuk surface, that other zowie mouse mat looks nice its got stitched edges which imo is a must at this point.

I think even the swift is a bit glossy looking but I think in future ill use a lint roller or lint cloth to wipe the dust and only use water as a last resort also ill be it from rainforest so if it does mess up back it goes.
