Hi all,

I've been dabbling into OCing recently, and am just wondering how much better something like the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 is, when compared to the Core2Duo stock coolers?

It seems pretty decent for around £20 or so, unless someone can recommend something that cools better (that isn't twice the price!!)

Cheers :)

It's a worthy investment for your £20 - you will get far better overclocking results and cooling using the above cooler than the supplied retail HS.

There will be a significant increase in cooling performance, if you move to something like the artic freezer, over the stock intel one. Both noise and cooling capability.

Most after market coolers, are if u put them side to side with the stock intel one, considerablly larger so therefore can dissipate heat better.

The stock cooler is'nt bad, but was made to a cost, and to realisticly cool the cpu at stock settings, that is why most will buy an after market one.

2 others to consider below, both will be the same sort of cooling as the artic, just from different manufactures.

This propbably has more cooling scope as u can add a 2nd fan, where as the other 2 u can't.

the ac7 is a lot better than the stock cooler i changed mine from stock to ac7 and the temps drop 10c i run a Q6600 with ac7 at3.2ghz with a max temp of 55c after 6 hours of prime 95.

Any examples, Benlanky?

Click on this link - for examples, you're after the LGA775 bolt-thru-kit.

The revision 2 of the Arctic Freezer may be able to take the Rev 2 bolt-thu-kit - looking at the enlarged pics - you'll need to confirm this.

Are there any reasonably priced coolers that offer the ability to bolt on? I did think about this but couldn't find any!

Blimey... I'd better check they'll fit in my case!!

Tempting though. They're worth the cash over the AC7?

Looks like thye're compatible with the i7 socket too, if I upgraded in the future.

Yeh they are, they are like another step up from the AC7, not that the AC7 is a bad cooler at all.

I have an Asus P5B motherboard. What are the chances that it won't fit and will foul on some capacitors, voltage regulators, the RAM and whatnot?
