whats the coolest case (temp wise) for under £100, ive been looking at a few, but the reviews ive found are mixed

ive looked at the antec 900, the fractal design r3, the coolermaster scout gaming case ( i was going to go with this one, till someone said it was flimsy for high end graphics cards) (im getting a black edition xfx so its quite heavy), id like a case with really good airflow to keep the system nice and cool

i would prefer one with a side window (unlike the r3), but id take the coolest one temp wise over looks, id like a couple of usb ports at the front, and somewhere to plug in earphones nice and handy

thanks a lot

Somewhere, there's a chart that has all the cases temps up with a similar system in. Can't quite remember what website has it though... But I'm sure someone will find it...

In my opinion there's very little difference between cases, it's all about cable management, positioning and number of fans and location of your PC

The two which are probably the best would be
Antec 902 V3
Coolermaster HAF 922

Havent read about cases for a while tbh, but the 1200 used to be THE best case for air cooing, til the HAF X came out, that was a couple years ago now, but its prob safe to assume their little brothers will be there or there abouts when it comes to top cooling performance. I'd go with the 902 V3 personally out of those two

thanks for the replies guys, will have a read up on them two:)
and id be prepaired to put extra fans in the cases (ie to get them moving more efficiently) but i wouldnt be water cooling just air

Back on topic, I'm pretty sure the Silverstone Raven is pretty epic at air cooling (only £109 - so if you were willing to buy a couple of fans for another £100 case then it would go over that price anyway)

I think it works well because of the 90degree mobo and the air penetrators..

another vote for the silverstone raven, i went from an antec 1200 to the raven 2 with the same hardware just the case changed, and the temp drops were massive, 9 degrees cooler at idle and around 10-15 degrees cooler while gaming on the cpu alone, GPU temps dropped around 15 degrees under gaming.

Have since changed hardware but kept the case as it was so good, my i7 2600k sits at 23-28 degrees idle and peaks out around 55 degrees during benches (lower in gaming)

Don't be stupid.

There's a huge difference between my FT02 and my old Lian Li 1200.

Are the parts inside exactly the same?

Obviously the case has something to do with it but you're hardly going to see a 10c difference in temps between ANY 2 cases of similar size and purpose

You can't compare a HTPC case to a HAF X

You must live in a fridge with those temps
My systems under custom water and not that low

REALLY? My i7 idles around 23c and rised to mid 50c under burn tests, I guess it depends what OC you're running and if its constant

Yes the components are the same.

I saw a 10 degree drop all round on average iirc.

I now run Crossfire, something I'd never have considered in the old case.

Well, all I know is CoolerMaster rightly lives up to its name, it you get your fan configuration right. My set below achieves 5.1 Ghz on AIR.

two words, can you guess what they are?

Cable Management

:D

Really? well thats impressive, I would have never thought it could make that much difference

Not really surprising though, the Raven is amazing at air cooling.

OK, guess I live in a sauna then, lol

Maybe not.... my stock i5 idles at 35....

Yours also is straight after your GPU in loop, so that'll dump a tiny bit of extra heat into it.

Only an A70, but still....
