Hey,

Ok so currently I've got a loop in my 800D with a 360 rad at the top in push/pull config, and that takes the heat off my i7 950 @ 4.2ghz & my first 5850.
I got the second 5850 a few days ago, and would LOVE to add it into the loop, purely for the looks, but I can see it being a problem cooling wise!
From what I can see, i'd definitely need to add another radiator into the mix, but I'm wondering what size I can get away with? I don't really want to modify my case so putting a 360 or anything in the bottom is out of the question!

I know I can get a 140 ( or 120?) in the bottom, but do you know of any other leeway I have with cooling this second card? And also more importantly, If i was to add a 140 radiator, would it be enough to keep the extra 5850 cool?

I also have the problem of finding another 5850 block, but I'm sure I can find one :)

Cheers

I believe you would be fine I remeber one of the OCUK guys saying rule of thumb was basicly a device per 120mm rad + x 120mm rad.

Since you have 3x 120mm (1x cpu (120) 1x5850(120) +120) means you only need another 120mm rad

Hmm, you might be ok.

An extra 140 and you'd be fine most certainly.

I'd normally think you'd want a 360 for cpu+gpu and then 480 for cpu + xFire - but it does depends on how hot cards run.

AnAndtech puts the GPU temp for a 5850 at 76 under Furmark - so it's not like it's a Fermi card into the 90s, so you may well get away with just 360. I know Shayper has his CPU, and 580 on a 240...

What are your temps like at the moment - would probably give you a good idea of whether temps are acceptable and might be able to throw in some more...

Idle is around 45C for the cpu and 35-40C for the gpu, CPU isn't the coolest i guess (want to get Sandybridge/Ivybridge).

Under load after about 3 hours the CPU can get up to 70 (never seen it go over and only seen it touch the mark, not gone over), but GPU stays at about 40-60C, so temps are pretty fine tbh.

I'll just get another 140 and see how it is :D
