I have been thinknig for some time of installing an after market cooler on my 4850,Just wondering how difficult it is and maybe soembody could spec me a cooler,

would a new cooler allow for increased performance from this card?
i ahve the powercolor version at the moment and the cooling is not great

The extra cooling will only help your overclock if you raise the voltage.
It is unlikely that through keeping the cards stock voltage you will exceed the capabilities of your current cooler.

Save up for a new card IMO.

my brother had that on his 4850 but it was too noisy, S1 accelero with 120mm fan beat it hands down, thats if you can still find one for sale.

I still have a 4850 as as a spare! It is a gr8 card but the stock cooler can be bit noisy at times. I got an Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo Pro and was very very pleased with it. Apart from only one miner thing - the mosfet cooling sinks which came with it would not stick in(they would fall off!) So I had to saw off the mosfet cooling part of the stock cooler and fit it with the custom cooler. Nothing major! Overall the temps were very good and silent as well!
