I've decided on most of my conroe upgrade, its just the HSF left.
Due to my case i'm looking for a HSF with the fan oriented paralell to the mobo like the stock cooler, rather than perpendicular to the mobo as in the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro. I'm also planning to do modest overclocking on the 6300, probably up to about 2.5Ghz, maybe 3Ghz if i get carried away.
Is the stock cooler ok for this, and how noisy is it? If an alternative HSF is the way to go, has anyone got any suggestions? Most reviews for socket 775 coolers seem to focus on performance with pentium 4s or (in the case of multi-socket HSFs) athlon 64s, so i'm not sure how to apply these reviews to conroes.
Noise is an issue, as i use my PC for both gaming and as a media centre. Also, blue LEDs would save me adding them to the HSF/case around the CPU later to complete my case lighting.
