cooling a q6600

i'm using it with an amd athlon 6400+ BE, with stock cooler it would reach over 80degrees, with this it hasn't gone over 52 yet .
i've clocked mine from 3.2 to 3.4 and is still keeping it running cool, so i think with a Q6600 you should be able to get it quite high depending on case cooling and motherboard/memory.

IMO Zalman CPU coolers are all crap (they ain't anywhere in lists of top coolers) even though they look as if they SHOULD cool well they dont and are loudish.

The Q6600 is hot more so the B3 over GO.

Get a Noctua or Tuniq Tower or TT True 120 or even that new Extreme you posted but mounting is not to my liking.

The Direct contact type are good if the Dies is actually bellow the Heatpipes.

A review site showed this and it depends if your on a Dual or Quad and how many pipes and width of them, you can end up with a Die sitting bellow a gap (obv some models are different from others).

Get the TRUE and stick a good 1600 rpm fan on it, peeps mentioned the noctua heatsink (rubbish on an overclocked quad) i know from experience. The thermalright 120 is the best heatsink you can get.

If its flat, if not you got hours of lapping ahead LOL.
Quite true, thermalrights quality control is rubbish, but when the customer has to do the fnishing work on a TRUE its well worth it, ive tried the noctua heatsinks, lapped/unlapped, i would never reccomend them to a quad user, theyre a great cooler for a high oc on a dual core, but when it comes to a quad 45nm/65nm they dont cut the mustard, even danamics with theyre lm10 couldnt beat the TRUE.
