Hi Folks,

Just need some advice with my new rig if possible. Listed all the components below,

Akasa AK-ZEN-01-BK Rev 4 Zen Black Case
MSI P45 Platnium Intel P45 PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core2 Quad Pro q6600 “energy efficient SLACR 95w edition” 2.40GHZ
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro CPU Cooler
Corsair TX 750W ATX2.2 SLI Compliant PSU
OCZ 2GB (2X1GB) PC2-9200CS 1150 MHZ Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4780 X2 2048MB GDDR5 TV-OUT/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express)
Samsung Spinpoint F1 750GB Sata-II 32MB Cache OFM
Operating System: XP Pro SP3 32X

The system came with the standard case fan and also the cpu fan (with built in thermal paste). The machine is not overclocked.

I'm monitoring my temps using Speed Fan. When running on Idle the pc temps are as follows,

GPU: 84c
Temp1: 48c
Temp2: 29c
Temp3: -128c
HD0: 22C
Core 0: 66c
Core 1: 62c
Core 2: 54c
Core 3: 51c

Full load when running Crysis,

GPU: 90c
Temp1: 75c
Temp2: 30c
Temp3: 127c
HD0: 22c
Core 0: 82c
Core 1: 79c
Core 2: 66c
Core 3: 62c

1) Are these temps normal for full load?
2) Can the components handle these temps?
3) Is it possible to make the PC quieter without using water cooling? With Full load the PC sounds like a server.
4) Are my GPU temps okay?

Thanks in advance!

i am guessing the place you are getting those readings from is broken. most 'normal' systems will shut off before they reach 75C.

first suggestion:
new case. your current one isnt built for doing cooling. yes it can cool things, but not as good as other cases. my suggestion if you dont want to splash out too much cash, Antec 900. yes it is becoming a rather common case, but thats because it does a good job with cooling.

next suggestion:
get better temperature readings. i found one of the best ways is to get something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...at=189&name=Akasa AK FC-03 Fan Controller Pro
it first controls your fans AND it also has 4 heat sensor readers. place them on/between objects for best results.

last suggestion:
get some cable ties. tie up all those loose cables and place them in a spare 5.25" drive. then tie up cables into bundles to help aid in airflow.

you can get most of that fitted at your local pc repair shop. if you cant do it yourself. usually they wont charge much

Thanks for the quick response!

Is Speed Fan not a reliable application for monitoring temps? Thats how I obtained those results (i'm new to all of this)

Wish I had heard of the Antec 900, just bought this case that a friend recommended

speed fan isnt 100% robust. it can usually give you the general idea. however i am unsure about your readings.

usually just a cleanup if the cables to aid airflow should cool the system somewhat.
