I currently have a Scythe Ninja with a 120mm 1500rpm Scythe fan pushing air to the back of the case.

With the case all closed up my PhenomII 940 operating at stock is hitting 60-65c when running 100% usage after a few hours depending on ambiant temps.

With the side of the case off I can loose upto 10c on those temps and about 5c with just the front door open. Intake cooling is poor in comparison to many cases. It's a Lain Li case but unusually it has twin 80mm fans front and back. they are also low RPM which is atleast good for quiet :)

Now regarding the Push/Pull on the CPU i was thinking of two of these...

Xilence XPF120R Red Wing 120mm Quiet Fan
- Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25 mm
- 3 & 4 Pin Connection
- Flow Rate: 68CFM
- 1400RPM
- Noise level: 21.2 dBA

or two of these..

Noctua NF-P12 Vortex-Control 120mm Quiet Case Fan - 3 Pin

- 1300 RPM @ only 19.8 dB(A)
- Pressure-optimised nine blade design
- Vortex-control notches
- Smooth commutation drive
- SSO bearing
- Dimensions: 120x120x25 mm
- Input Power 1.08 W
- Input Current 0.09 A
- Voltage Range 12 V
- MTBF > 150.000 h
- Mounting hardware included 4 Vibration Compensators, 4 Fan Screws, 3 to 4-pin adaptor

Not sure what kind of air the Noctua pushes but everyone is saying good things about it. what do you guys recon? also if you have any other ideas on other fans which may suit better please give sujestions.

regarding my case temps in generall i will be getting one of these, although I can't find that yet only the older version with what looks like a very obstructive cover. It will have 4 HDDs behind it including, 2 or 3 74gb raptors which I imagen isn't ideal but should still be better than no ventilation?

I will also be reseating the cooler and reaplying AS3 just incase something went wrong there too.

The Red Wings are pretty good. I have 2 of the 92mm versions, although regarding the 120's, I think the CFM quoted is wrong. I have heard they are around 44.

With regard to the Noctuas, I have 3 of those, and they are very very good. The most quiet fans that still push decent air that I have personally used, and I've been through a fair few over the years. At full speed they are audible, but not annoying in any way. Knock a couple of hundred RPM off them and they are virtually silent!

yeah i went with the info on the red winds from the site and it was wrong. Quite disapointing really, but they are still really good fans.

I would try reseating the cooler first because if the CPU is not overclocked and as long you have reasonable airflow, the Ninja would be ok with no fans.

i'd sort out case airflow before worrying about push/pull on the processor, if the temps drop that much by removing the case side.
