Hi

i've just brushed the dust off bf3 after a while playing cod and diablo and can't help but notice that my cpu temp is pushing 100 degrees in game - yipes
I'm also idling at approx 40C - Need to improve my cooling from the intel stock fan but with so many cooling options on offer i don't know where to start. I'm looking for the following:

Quiet
Plug and play - No need to swap out parts or faff about in bios
cheapish - i don't want to pay £50 if a £35 fan would get my temps down to a sensible level, but i don't want to pay £35 and find its no good

Grateful for a bit of advice on which of the makes/models would suit me best

Thanks in advance

Can I ask what RAM you have and what case you have.

Need to make sure that what ever is suggested will fit the case and still get the side panel on, also tall RAM can cause fitment issues.

Hmmm.

What motherboard?

Does the PC work (still in dual channel mode) with the RAM in the 2nd+4th slots away from the CPU?

I think a closed loop water cooler is a safer bet on fitting.

i think it is working in dual channel mode but just to be sure how do i double check?

Download CPU-Z, then the memory tab.

But im sure it is in dual channel mode.

yep running in dual channel

By closed loop water I take it you mean something along the lines of the corsair hydro...

I note from the comments that a few people have had to swap out fans on those... any views on which might be the best?
