Cooling and Performance

Given 2 identical cpu's running at the same speed would there be any difference in performance if they ran at different temps - not exceeding max operating ) i.e. had different cooling setups

So for example if a cpu is overclocked to the max would a cooler setup of say - 10 deg c improve benchmark tests ? I am not talking about liquid nitrogen here !!!

Is performance just the frequency or would a cooler chip have higher performance ?

No, a cooler chip does not perform any better than a hot one with the same frequency.

You could slap a liquid helium tower to your processor and it will do naff all. Except possibly make the chip too cold to work.

The only benefit of keeping it cool is possibly a better lifespan on the chip. Also a bit more room to overclock... which can decrease the life of the chip... so swings and roundabouts there.
