Cooling/Fan control

Afternoon guys,

I'm looking to potentially looking to purchase a fan controller, is it as simple as plugging the fan control directly into the motherboard then plugging the fan's into the controller then adjusting dials?

Secondly I'm looking to mod my 780ti with a NZXT H10 would it be a simple as removing the current cooler adding the NZHT H10 then purchasing a AIO to mount on top of the chip and away I go?

Fan controllers are normally powered from the PSU and it divides the volts to each fan.

Not sure if you need to connect to a motherboard header for some sort of rpm sensing or not, but I doubt it.

Plug fans (and temp probes if supplied/required) into controller. Plug in power (molex usually) and away you go.
 
Doubt it for that card.

But I will look it up.

It has a good cooler anyway (one of the best).
 
Yeah but my GPU is getting to around 75 degrees, when I've got the fan at 70 percent and gpu usage at around 60-80 percent. no Idea what's going on with it
 
Cleaned it out? apply new paste to it?

75C doesnt sound to high.

Is it a Ghz edition? do you know the model code?
 
I'm going to do that tonight, and I'll get the model code :) I don't think it's the Ghz edition :)

Well Ive found a picture of it (the non Ghz edition) and looked at its PCB versus a Nvidia reference 780ti PCB online and the Gigabytes packing more stuff on the PCB.
 
:( Ah that's a shame. looks like I'll have to give a good clean and hope it fixes the problem. One day it was fine the other day it was heating up. maybe one of the fan stops :P
 
As in maybe one of the three fans has just stopped spinning entirely :) I've got arctic paste reckon that'll be ok?

Cooler pretty easy to remove?
 
Artci silver 5 I wouldn't be happy to use, there are bits around the gpu die (smd capacitors etc), so if you get that paste on them then it can cause issues.

You want a non electrically conductive/capacitive paste.


You need a block and loop I think.

Someone put the NZXT on a Windforce 980 so maybe it might work? :)

Cant use that as a guide.
 
I like to use MX-2 or 4 on GPUs.

I dont know about taking the chance with the NZXT thing, what if theres something on the PCb that must be cooler (VRMS etc) and its not making contact with those parts.
