Hi All,

Since my scsi drive died I've been using a standard IDE - however the noise that was drowned out from the 6600GT is driving me nuts.

I've looked on Overclockers and can't see an artic cooler for my card (agp btw) not sure if I'm missing something.

Any help would be great.

Cheers
Andy

Oooer, i just posted saying my leadtech 6600GT fan makes more noise than my washing machine on spin dry.... ive 2 of them, the other is fine.. bloodying annoying... ive asked if it can be returned. Mine is the PCI-E version btw. I would get another VF900, but the stock fan is fine, when it isnt buzzing like a bitch.

Just fitted this:

Zalman VF700-CU Quiet Copper VGA Cooler (HS-013-ZA)

Ram heatsinks won't fit but as it never had any before can't see it matters. Noise wise you would hardly know it's on so a result there. It is large but unless you are running a micro case you will be fine.

If you want an aftermarket cooler for your 6600GT then buy the Zalman VF700 or VF900, but you must also aquire one of these for the HSI bridge on the AGP version to go with it, or else you're out of luck IMO.

I cannot stress how important I think that little heatsink is for the AGP version of the 6600GT. Don't bother with aftermarket cooling unless you get one.

Opps - well spotted I should have said, luckily my card had the seperate heatsink already which I left in place.

In that case I'd go for the VF700 since I know from personal experience it works fine on AGP 6600GT boards and a HSI bridge heatsink. If I knew for a fact the VF900 was the right dimensions to work, I'd suggest that, but I don't. If it is though, buy it. :)
