Cooling for FX8120

Hello
Need a new cooler for my CPU someone advise me Gellid tranquilo rev2 but i think its too big and will cover some ram slots so something more compact would be nice also around £20-£30

Do you have RAM with large heatsinks?

If your RAM is 'low profile' (e.g. this) then a Gelid will be a good choice, as it will be over the RAM slots - not hitting the RAM.

my ram has black metal casing around it so yes similar to that but another problem that i might have is that it might hit the side of the case as its very large

What case do you have? A lot of the coolers around that price are of a similar size, so it'll be a good idea to see how much clearance you have before you decide

its mid atx of an unknown brand (has an icute picture on the front)

Best idea then is to measure from the motherboard to the edge of the case - to see how big a cooler you can fit

Get a Corsair H80 and put some Noctua NF-F12's on it, if OCUK have started to stock them as they are pretty new, its what ive done for my 8150, temps are awesome, 30'c idle

Around 12-16cm of space I have
And also my cheapo case probably won't take water cooling

Is that from the motherboard?

The Gelid is 153mm, if you could fit that in that would be cool.

If not, this may be a safer bet:

It's not the best - but it'll be an improvement on the stock cooler.

I'm surprised how good it is actually, for the price - handles an i7 2600K at 4Ghz and reasonable temps too!

Excellent! I run mine at stock so if it runs an oc chip cool it should be cool and quiet :-)

I bought an antec truepower 650 and advised my friend to buy one too but where as mine works his came DOA
