Hi all,

Right I've got a Core 2 Duo E6750 running at stock speeds, at the moment I am not interested in overclocking it.

now, I've had heating issues with the Intel Cooling System thing where it speeds up and slows down (I'm on a stock HSF). The machine has restarted etc. as it has overheated.

I now have the fan on full speed, through a BIOS setting.

I think I need a new HSF, however am not sure which one to go for.

I don't want to spend anymore that £20 delivered and it has to be socket 775

Thanks

If you are running stock the Intel sotkc cooler should be more than enough for the job. Are you sure the cooler is mounted properly? what is the temperature at idle and under load? What does core temp report?

Core #0 35 degrees
Core #1 35 degrees

Thats when pretty much idle, browsing the web.

I'll go have some time on COD4 and post back the load temps.

As soon as I booted the game up the temps rose straight to 40 degrees, they then seemed to peak around 47-48.

This is with the system fan set to constant though.

That sounds perfectly fine. So that's with your fan constantly at 100%? even with slower fan I still don't see how it will overheat if the cooler is installed properly with decent thermal paste.
