Cooling motherboard vrm from backside?

Anyone used a thermal pad on the back of a mobos vrm area to contact that area to the mobo mounting tray/case to drop vrm temps some? Or am i the first to think of this?

The thermal pad would be so thick you'd probably end up increasing the temps. There are several mobos with a large metal backplate and iirc they didn't improve cooling significantly.

Install a small fan if you really need the cooling.

ahh cool, was just throwing that idea out there. iv seen some devices that use a thick pad for cooling to chassis, cant remember if it was a games console or a mini pc thingy so it got me wondering.
