Is water cooling still needed for high end pc's or will a well designed case and good fan placement make do ?

I am trying to learn all I can about building computers, I'd show the specs of the pc I will be building but I wont be builing her for a month or 3 so there is no real point as better parts may come along within them 3 months. I really don't want to water cool...

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18335839 <--this is what I did have in mind but this list wont do me much good in 2 or 3 months time as better parts start appearing on the market, feel free to take a look though.

decent air cooling will always suffice unless ur going to overclock or you live in a very hot place. if ur going to have water-cooling then i think its only worth the money of you really push the overclocking potential of ur rig. thats just my opinion and i know others will disagree, but i think its simply not required for high end pc's if your running at stock speeds or only slightly overclocking.

Unless your SLIing lots of GPUs then I think air will be fine. You can overclock the latest intel chips on air to >4GHz no problem

I will most likely be cross firing as time goes on. well SLIing.

I'd really like to avoid water cooling at all costs but if I have to then I will, I just worry about changing parts ect or messing up on installing the water cooling as no one i know , knows how to water cool so I'd have no help.

Watercooling is probably mostly done because its so good at cooling but also makes for an awesome rig and probably some fun modding in the process. (though increasingly cases are made to accommodate one or several radiators)

If SLIing or whatever, with a Mobo with enough PCI slots you can get a decent gap between the GPUs I believe to keep them cool on air? Someone else will know more!

I hope so, I want to leave noting to chance. I am doing some early research now because closer to purchase I will be like an excited little kid at christmas
about my first new rig in 5 years.

Yes I wont be over clocking , but the possibility is there as time goes on but I'd like to avoid it,
I don't think the rig I am going for even needs it anyway, you saw the rig I am going to build in my other thread Elitehacks, you told me it should be a pretty good rig , I have changed my motherboard choice since though and updated the threads original post accordingly.
