Cooling options for CPU mATX case

Was looking to replace my current mATX build (probably with a 7800X3D based option) and was thinking about cooling ideas. Maybe a little overclock down the line when it starts showing its age / gets a new GPU / upgrade the CPU. I was thinking about a 240mm / 280mm AIO? Or is air enough? Just looking for some ideas / comment to think about. I've not made any purchases in this direction yet.

It really does boil down to what case you get that will allow you to have different cooler options

Which case you looking at ?
 
Nothing wrong with going matx, I'm using matx in my o11 evo, but you're going to need a case with good airflow if you're going 'high end' modern cpu's.

So as above, go case hunting first and work from there.
 
I'm open to other ideas but I've been looking at the O11 Mini Air recently which looks like it has a decent amount of space and can fit a standard ATX PSU in it.

Its a great case and got tons of space in it :D

However, here comes the tricky part.......my water pump for my cooling broke a few days ago and I had to order a new pump, whilst waiting for that to arrive, I removed the water block and used the stock AMD cooler on my 7900, im also using the vertical GPU back panel / mount with my case and the cooler barely fit, in fact it was pushing the card towards the glass side panel, not by much, but enough to notice it.

So, if you get a big air cooler you'll lose the ability to add the vertical GPU mount in the future.

Or, you could always get a 240mm AIO which are fairly cheap now-a-days and upgrade to the vertical mount later down the line if you want it.

If you go with a micro atx motherboard you can fit a 280mm radiator in the roof which will be enough to cool a 7800x3d
