Hi All.

Im hoping you can help.

Ive been running a plex server now in the front room for a few years and the wife has always given me grief about it. To be fair to her its an old black generic mid tower case just sitting in the corner of the room and yes, its a bit of an eyesore but i've always managed to fob her off with I will sort it.

So after clearing out the loft today I came across an old Corsair Air 240 I still had in white, lovely little case and the beauty of it is its fits in an Ikea Kallax unit so its helping with my dilema.

Now to the main point of the question, ive been running an i5 3570 as my CPU, its been grand for what i need it for but all the time ive owned it its been sat under some king of massive Noctua tower cooler ( cant remember the model. This cooler wont fit into the corsair case!

Ive found a Noctua NH-L9i when browsing today and its perfect for size requirements for the case i was just wondering if it would be ok as the cooler for the 3570? its the non K version so its not overclocked but from time to time there could be a few people pulling data from Plex.

Any help or suggestions please?

Get a cheap aio and run the fan on low rpm that way you get great performance and low noise.

should be fine, my gf's computer is on 24/7 and has an old corsair h50 (the older one thats larger) it's been running for years

but a better solution surely would be to buy a micro pc?
i have one running my cctv system and it has passive cooling, so no fan.
gigabyte brix i think the brand is, i got it 2nd hand for like £30

I run a passively cooled xeon in my gen8 microserver which is sat inside my TV unit with the door permanently closed and can have several people streaming from it. Never been an issue and it's been on 24/7 since I bought it other than to upgrade the ram and drives.

I think that noctua cooler will be fine.

That cooler will be fine and certainly a better idea than an AIO in my opinion
