OK so heres the thing I currently have a Intel Q6600 running @3.6Ghz in a asus pq5 under a swiftech storm block with a old MCR220 rad, MCP655 pump MCRES525 and 7/16" tubing (basically the original swiftech H2O apex liquid cooling kit).
Now I am being tempted by the Core i7 920@4Ghz overclocked bundle on the this week only offer, and the missus has said i can have it which of course brought a massive smile to my face. So when running things through in my head, i will obviously need a new water block. my currant cpu/mb/ram will go into the wifes machine and her pentium dual core [email protected] on a gigabyte P31 DS3L will go into my sons machine.
the [email protected] is currently using the stock Intel hs/fan from my Q6600 which is defiantly beefier than the hs/fan that came with the 6300 and the temps are acceptable even during the really hot weather last year, so the cooling for that doesn't really need changing.
the question is what to do about the Q6600 and will my existing water cooling setup be ok with the new i7 920@4Ghz obviously with a new block.
possible solutions that i have thought up so far....
solution one: put the titan fenir on the q6600 in my wifes machine and buy an additional block maybe this one...OCZ HydroFlow HF-MK1 CPU Water block
solution two: upgrade the titan fenir to one of these...CoolIT Eco A.L.C. High-Performance CPU Water cooler and use that on the Q6600 and still buy a new block for the new i7 920@4Ghz
solution three: use the titan fenir on the i7 920@4Ghz in my machine and buy another cooler for the q6600 to go into the wifes machine.
now will the titan fenir cope with the [email protected] I'm assuming it will as its used on the i7 920@4Ghz.
is that OCZ hydroflow block up to the job or do i really need to spend more on a block.
decisions decisions.......
