Cooling system for core 2 duo

I have just order an Asus P5Q Deluxe and an Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 processor to go with it. My question is can I use the heatsink/fan from my other Asus motherboard, it's nothing fancy (775 socket)?

I was looking at the Thermalright heatsink but it looks like it would poke out the otherside of my living room Can you get away without using a fan with one of these things?

I don't think I will be overclocking just yet but need some ideas on how best to cool the processor.

The thermalright ultra fits the p5q deluxe fine, ran the same combo myself.
