Coolit freezone or phase change

I've read a little into the new'ish coolit freezone cpu cooler/chiller system and was just wandering if anyone has already given this a shot? Especially with heavy overclocks. How is it going? I'd also like to know if anyone has tried to fit the contents of a phase change unit into their case? I have a v1000+ which I'd love to be able to gut out the bottom so I could get the gubbins in there along with just the PSU.

Guess the deciding factors really for me are, is the coolit system anygood, as in will it cool well even under load or wether I could get the whole phase change unit inside my v1000+.

I'd prefer phase because its tried and tested and proven to be very good.

Seen a few modded cases where Phase has been housed inside the bottom of v2000 Lan Li case.

Gray Mole @ XS forum has done the few modded ones i seen.

Hey 4Q :) Good to see you!

I don't mean to resurrect old threads and all that, but I saw this and wanted to check on something.

First, that chiller is a TEC system, and while I'm sure it does the job, it's performance isn't 'up there' on the cooling charts. The package is cool though, and the fact that it's not really 'cold enough' to give serious condensation problems and can but tuned to make sure you don't, is a nice feature.

The thing I wonder about though is that normally it's not a greatly efficient system, and TEC's can be prone to failure. I used TEC stuff a long while ago and never really trusted it to be left alone. It looks well made though.

What I was really wondering about is that you mentioned you had a V1000 case, and I found a really neat small rotary compressor that's horizontal that MIGHT fit those cases. I think that if it could a phase system in a V1000 would be an awesome project.

Would you mind measuring the bottom section of that case? I know the front larger area would work, I'm just curious if the setup would fit in the rest of it.

That's the compressor, it sits really low compared to anything I've used or seen before, just longer than regular mach and vapo ones.

That's the tester I made, just to see how it sized up and it really looks like it would fit into a V1000.

So if you could measure all the space, and whether the HDD mounts and all that could be removed that would be really cool. I just don't really know anyone with a V1000 and haven't had one in hand to accurately measure it to see if it would fit something like this.

Cheers

hey gray mate, those compressors are tiny

here are the dimensions of the NON PLUS v1000 , ive left the PSU in, as theres no other place to mount it, so these are the dimensions of the bottom, with no HDD cages, you could add another inch of depth at the front i suppose if you took the fan mount bit out, but thats if your at a squeeze

I have seen a few reviews of that Coolit freezone and it does'nt have the performance to match it's cost. Custompc mag had it in last months mag and was not that impressed with it. Seeing as the thing costs around £195 and only offers marginally better cooling than a £30 air cooler it is definately not worth it.

Well the height of the compressor is about 4.25" so that's not a real problem.

The compressor itself is about 10.5" long, but the barbs protrude out the front and would very likely be about 11.5" even if 90 degree bends were used.

That means that it would be very very tight to fit this system for sure.

If the PSU could be relocated, installation would be seriously easy though.

I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a case and see if it could be done though :D When I got the small compressors it was one of the first things that came to mind.

Thanks for that Jelly ;)
