Coolit Systems Domino A.L.C for OC i7

Hi I recently bought a *OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max.

The bundled Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler which is 158mm high prevents the side panel of my case from closing(Coolermaster Cosmos S). There is about a 20mm interference with the side panel fan. Other than removing the fan what are the options for water cooling compared to air.

Has anyone had success overclocking their Core i7 with the Coolit Systems Domino A.L.C Watercooling System?

The general rule is not to go near cheap water cooling kits, let alone for cooling a huge overclock on an i7. However the Corsair Hydro seems to be the exception, and can quite easily ool an i7 at around 4Ghz. It's also very similar in design to the Domino, so it'll occupy the back fan extraction slot. Or you could go for a rad/pump/res/cpu block in a conventional loop. If memory serves correctly the Cosmos is ready to take a rad in the roof, or is that something else?
 
seems a ok kits for water cooling noobs like me, who dont want to spend loads on the first go @ it

Seems OK and it looks like I could fit it in one of the three exhaust fans at the top of the case and keep my side panel fan.

Prt, whats the lowest temperature you can acheive for your CPU under full load?

Cheers, I'm going to order the Corsair Hydro H50. The performance and stats look good. If I need more performace, I can always fit another fan to the rad for push/pull.

We use the Domino with our kits and they seem to work fine at 4ghz. That said they dont offer much if anything over a fenrir or noctua really except noise.

I had the same problem when i bought a thermalright ultra extreme - if you are still considering air cooling at all id look at the themalright ultra ultimas.. pretty much a slightly smaller '92mm' version and has near enough the same cooling capabilities

The Corsair Hydro H50 should be OK then, it's as good a Thermalright IFX-14 and it out performs the Domino and it's not going to be as noisy. The other advantage is that I will not need to open the side panel to change the Domino's profile for the fan speed.
 
I prefer the looks of the Corsir hydro H50 over the coolit products that large whopping plastic bit adds bulk and looks nasty ! dont really care about monitoring temps when other utilities/software can do it anyhow.

Only concerns are the noise of the pump and the fan and since its performing on par with the top heatsinks currently, im considering just waiting of the next wave of heatsinks with 140mm silent fans surely they will offer better silence/more better cooling :)

But will have to wait.

Just looking at the benchies with the Core i7 920 @ 3.8ghz and its hitting 75c average on mid-low settings so doubt it will be good enough for the Ocuk 4ghz bundle, maybe at 3.8ghz only.

I had tried it as it load of rubbish as it not performance very well on i7 4ghz bundle as idle temp is 41, 42, 40, 41 but after 10 minutes of prime 95 temperature shoot up 94, 95, 93, 90. Don't waste your time mate as it not very good. I wish i never listen to all these silly review of H50 is performance well on i7 core but it not true.

Well none of the reviews I have seen have temps that high, if your temps were a bit lower than it may be a case of your case not having as good airflow, your ambient temp may be hotter. But with such a drastic difference in temp, I would assume it wasn't mounted properly (not saying that is the case). Did you try reseating it?

Also what vcore were you using, because the reviews seem to be around 1.25-1.28 region, and if yours is higher then it could be a case of you exceeding the Hydro's cooling capabilities.
 
I use vcore of 1.24v when I was tested out H50 as I am happy with air cooler ! as I am selling H50 ! Also my antec 1200 case shouldn't be worse airflow ! It a very good case.
 
I think hitting in the 90s is still due to the 4ghz overclock, I still reckon 4ghz while the magic mark is too taxing and causing such high temps in these bundles and instability issues also.

Still one thing to remember is prime while one of the best test going your system is surely never gonna be pushed that far ? Primes designed to boil cpus afterall I dont think most games even go that far but could be wrong :)

Reading all the issues with these 4ghz bundles killed it for me I think im content with just silence + stability even if my cpu is running at default clocks!

It seems as a rule of thumb for the H50; if you multiple the speed the i7 processor, not including the Ghz, by 18 this should give you a good idea of the CPU’s temperature at full load and with an ambiant tempature of 25°C
i.e. 4.0 x 18 = 73°C
