Has anybody here been and got any info or advice? I'm thinking about taking my girlfriend there for a few days, maybe a week. It's one of those places that I've always wanted to visit and I want to take her somewhere for her birthday, which is 20th July. Any time around then would be fine, but would prefer to avoid kids holidays if possible. Needs to be cheapish!

Copenhagen is definitely NOT cheapish..what about Berlin or Budapest or Krakow?

Having said that...if you've always wanted to go then surely it's worth the extra couple of hundred in spending money??

I've been to Budapest and Warsaw which I know isn't Krakov. Could try Krakov I suppose. My Polish surname would probably go down better there than Berlin.

Budget is roughly £600 inc spending. Would like a few nice meals but not loads of drinking as she's pregnant.

Copenhagen is one of the most expensive cities in Europe. I always judge cities by the 'pint of beer' metric, which is how much a pint (or 500ml ;)) will set you back in an average bar. In Copenhagen that's about £5.00, as compared to about £2.70 for my hometown of Cambridge, or about £0.70 for Krakow.

It's a nice place, but feels quite small-townish. I'd recommend Berlin or Krakow instead. Both are beautiful, and not too expensive either (although do some research on the hotels in Krakow - you can get ripped off something horrible!)

yeah ive been there a few times. its really nice, but it is true, it is damned expensive.

If you do go then go to Tivoli gardens; it's a theme park/gardens kinda thing right in the centre of copenhagen and its fantastic.

other than that i find just getting lost is nice because its a really interesting place to just walk and look around.
