I've just acquired a Lian-Li PC-V300 (silver version) to house my new media player. Unfortunatly, her that must be obeyed is not too keen on the brushed aluminium finish (it doesn't go with the brown dinning room furniture etc) - so I'm thinking about colouring it.
As a chemist, I do know that Aluminium is signifcantly more reactive than copper - so, in theory, I should be able to put get copper to displace the alu and thereby colour the case with a thin copper layer.
My plan would be to dunk each part in a 1% caustic solution to remove the annodised layer (~ 30 seconds should be enough) and then dunk the part in a copper solution (give it a few minutes to react) and then rinse with water.
Has anyone tried this? It seems quite simple (if a little too simple)
