Copper sacked

:D

Fair enough he did it three times, I assume once per year? Big deal.

Just get a written disciplinary and he'll learn not to do it. So now he's on the dole.

Oh im sorry, i thought we lived in Britain, all servicemen should be honourable fellas and devout to the state right?

Oh wait, no we live in "Britain", where such things are unknown.

Trying it three times was a bit daft, and then to get caught on TV?!
Should have just told them he was having a "Mental Health Day."

It's in the article....

The first time Sept 2015 then April 2016 and again in June 2016. 3 times in 10 months.

Each time to watch horses he had a stake in through the syndicate he was in.

His defense is lame IMO: -

PC Adams said he had taken time off to avoid a "toxic" environment at Barton Street station. He described suffering stomach cramps, migraines and irritable bowel syndrome.

Takes a lot for forces to sack someone, this is unlikely to be the only reason they decided to boot him out, chances are there's a list of other stuff he's pulled or previous incidents looking into his conduct.

Very, very likely and as you point out it's normally the real reason that allows them to get rid of someone who's been a pain in the @#$* to others.

Makes you wonder what exactly this "toxic" environment is that he refers to in his defense, I'm sure there's a story behind that.

Yeh, there's a lot of hurdles to jump before you can sack a copper.

Anytime I've been on a disciplinary panel and someone has spouted about a toxic environment it's just them lashing out in anger and frustration because they know they've been caught doing something really daft. Those who genuinely work in toxic environment usually have a long list of complaints to management or HR/Unions, e-mails and other evidence to back their claims up, the fact they felt confident to sack this guy would suggest he didn't.

Your joking right? It's not like it was an isolated incident. It was blatant theft of time and is treated as gross misconduct by almost every employer in the country. Should have just used annual leave...

Not really this was pretty much as open and shut as they come. The things that take the time are going through the process and having the meetings etc.

I feel 50/50 about this, I can't blame him for wanting to get away from Barton Street in Gloucester.
