Perhaps because in the old days it printed the text on your screen direct to an attached printer? ;)

From Wiki:
Under command-line based operating systems such as MS-DOS, this key causes the contents of the current screen memory buffer to be copied to the standard printer port, usually LPT1. In essence, whatever is currently on the screen when the key was pressed was printed. The key has a Unicode character of U+9113

Never really thought about the name before. Makes sense when you think about it.
 
If I point my screen at something and press it will my laptop take a photo?

what will happen if the basket does not fit onto 1 page and i need to scroll down to see the bottom half, will i have to do 2 seperate screen shots?

Yep take two screenshots and put them together in paint.
