Copy iPOD content without iTunes

This is for my mother. My brother left her his iPod, belive it's a 80GB Classic. She wants everything off it as it's not showing the screen properly.

She hates iTunes and has problems before with it losing stuff. I was able to recover it.

Now she has a new MP3 player simple drag and drop in windows.

Whats the best way for me to gain access to the ipod to copy the data off it? I know i will need to then change the formats of vids, song and pics possibly to be used by other means
