copying a file

Hi peeps,

I have a 8g file I want to copy to my 40g portable drive...

I have 13g free on my portable drive, and when I go to copy the ISO file, win vista x86 version says "destination drive does not have enough space"

whats that about?

when it blatently does...

please help

Is the portable FAT32 formatted? If so, that's why. The max file size on a FAT32 disk is 4Gb.

but I previously transferred 8g prog last week on to it....ok it was 4 x 2g .mdf files...but if it did 8g before why wont it do it now??

1 8GB file won't copy due to the file size restriction. 4 2GB files will as they are smaller than the file size restriction.

yup
but a format (with windows disk manager) will remove all the data from the drive

use testdisk to recover the partition if this is too late
