I need a handy FREE tool that will allow me to copy EXIF data (pre-set fields would be ideal as i only need the main ones, lens, shutter speed, iso etc.) and paste it into word so i can make little "data cards" for my photos on display tonight.

Any suggestions please

If you have the new version of firefox that plugin won't work :(

I'm looking for a similar thing too.

I ended up installing the full free version from Opanda along with the FF extension, i have to say its very good but still took me all morning to extract 50 pictures exif data as i only wanted selected fields!

Bit late now I know but Downloader Pro will create a text file of the EXIF data as it downloads the image from the card. Even if you're wanting to get EXIF for old shots you can point it at a path rather than a card reader.

Then if you've got a text editor that'll do macros you could get a reasonably trouble free workflow going to generate the sets of EXIF fields you want.
