Im getting a new HDD for my laptop, ill put it in and install Win7 on it.

My old HDD that was in the laptop ill take out, it will will then go into an external USB caddy.

Will i be able to pull everything off the old HDD (now converted into an external HDD) just by plugging it into a USB on the laptop?

What im thinking is that because it still has Win7 installed on it it might not work as a seperate drive. Or will it simple be seen as a memory stick type thing.

It will show up like a memory stick, Then you go into it and then Documents/Settings (i think) then all your personal files are in there.... Or if you dont need them just format

It will just show up as a drive, no problemo!

User filed, and desktop are usually located under c:\Users\Your user name\ unless you've changed your home directory.

You might need to "take ownership" of the files.
