copying files from unraid to win 11

Hi i was thinking plug in portable ssd and copy files to that then plug into win pc and download them. (its a few thousand photos that i want to edit) but will it work with oth file systems or do i use smb and win file explorer

Why not set up an SMB share and just copy them over the network?

I assumed this way was faster, anyway copied onto the portable ssd and windows sees them okay, thanks

Make a shared folder on the array, add a user to unraid. Then add the same username and password into windows. Will allow you to browse/copy/paste/move any files in the shared folder from either, without an issue.

hi i have my smb shares set up but i thought it would be quicker to copy a few hundred Gb to the drive rather than over the network
