Copying files over Win 7 network keeps stalling?

Hi folks,

Any thoughts as to why copying files over a network would keep stalling?

All machines are Win 7 64. All have latest network drivers (Intel gigabit, Atheros gigabit and whatever my laptop has). Also have a Netgear gigabit switch sitting in the middle of it.

The overall speed is fine for 5-10 seconds then it'll stall for 30 seconds to over a minute or two at a time which obviously means copying can take an age and is rather annoying.

Any thoughts on what settings in the cards or Windows would cause this?

Cheers :)
Paul.

Yeah it is very odd. I've had transfers not jam and fly and then try again a bit later and it just stalls.

The reason it looks slow is the stalling adds up to the time taken even if the bursts are 70MB/s when it's actually copying.

Going to see if Teracopy makes any difference to the way files are being copied this evening.

Drivers are all up to date.

Yep, I've tried the forcing thing. As I say it's not a speed problem, the copy actually keeps stalling.
