As my mobo recently died, I am going to be rebuilding my PC, and thought it would be a good opportunity to move to Vista. I'll be installing on a fresh drive, so still have my XP install on a separate disk. If I do a fresh install of Vista, is it possible to copy my Outlook Express emails into the Vista email client? (Done this succesfully with previous XP installs) Or is it better to install XP on the new drive, copy them across, then upgrade to Vista (I'll be getting the upgrade version as I have heard too may horror stories about the OEM version).

Thanks in advance.

You have quite a few options here.

If you can still boot into XP you could export the mail from Outlook express and run an import within windows mail or run the User State Migration Tool (the USMT will also take over a load of other stuff for you as well if you want it too)

If you cannot you can import the .dbx files

I have always gone for fresh OS installations rather than in place upgrades.
