well where do i start

first of im runnning windows 7 64

i got a segate expansion 1.5TB external hard drive for xmas but when i try to copy any large amounts of data to it 40GB + it throws a fit, my system goes to 100% cpu usage and becomes slow and laggy, and then half way though it fails saying that the destination file could not be found or something like that, i have tried to use synctoy as well but it does the same problem

i have tried different usb ports, ran HD tune error scan on it (the long one) and even doing that it went to 100% cpu usage that came back with no errors

it doesn't do it when i copy to older external hard dive i got

could it be a problem with the external hard drive? or a windows problem? any advice is appreciated

and if this is not in the right place could a mod please move it, thanks
