Here and There...
Looking to buy my dada a decent cordless drill as his has packed up, I've set myself a budget limit of £100 ideally less! He was very impressed with the hitachi I picked up from screwfix when they were on offer last year so I was hoping for a similar offer but so far nothing!

Today I saw this on the screwfix site and thought it looked spot on under budget, decent brand, two batteries http://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-gsb18-2-li-plus-18v-1-5ah-li-ion-cordless-combi-drill/9647j

Anyone seen anything else out there in the sub £100 bracket ideally with two batteries that is worth considering?

my money would be buying something from Bosch, Dewalt or Makita.

That one you linked to only has 1.5Ah batteries so they won't last as long but you can at least charge one whilst using one, can't get my head around wether or not 1 x 3.0ah is better than 2 x 1.5ah. probably the latter.

My dad isn't getting any younger so I thought the reduced weight would be good for him and he can always have the other battery on charge while he's working

I picked up a Haitachi from Screwfix a few months ago for £70 IIRC. It has been flawless.

Wish I'd got two I'm really pleased with mine for the money I was hoping the January sales might see a similar deal but sadly not!

I bought the GSB 1800 2x2Ah from screw fix a few months ago and it has been faultless so far. Looking at the specs the GSB 18-2 and GSB 1800 are almost identical so would hope it is equally as good. Not sure if 2 x +0.5Ah is worth an extra £20. If you are using the drill up a ladder/above head height often then the lighter 1.5/2Ah battery are definitely preferable to the 3/4+ Ah. Also if the single 3Ah battery runs out then its run out, if you have 2x battery you will hopefully never run out of charge provided you keep one on charge whilst using the other.

Some interesting prices on the GSB1800 was surprised to see the 3Ah model cheaper than the 2Ah.

There are so many different models it's a nightmare trying to make a decision just need to pick something and buy it now so I can forget about it!
