I made the realisation today that the desk I have in my bedroom where the PC sits is a bit tiresome and after having a move around have decided to instead link the PC directly to my 32" TV with the 22" as a secondary...which means all music, video, DVD and (eventually) TV streamed in one place. It also means I can lounge on the bed and browse the web or chat on MSN. Without a desk of course, this means that the wires form the KB and mouse might start to get in the way.

Problem is, I still want to play games on the PC. Now, the last time I used a wireless mouse (albeit, quite a while ago) I wasn't keen on it; there was a slight delay I found, which is fine for most games, but would be irritating in FPS games, which I probably play the most. Can someone recommend any good cordless solutions which have the same responsiveness as a traditional mouse? Or is the best solution simply to have a corded gaming mouse left plugged in for when I want to play FPS games?

logitech G7 is the best cordless mouse to date for gaming.

i hear its very fast (almost as fast as corded)

I've been thinking of going cordless myself.
Some sort of mouse / keyboard bundle would be best, preferable rechargeable

...oh, and something symmetrical, as I'm left handed.

Anyone have any recommendations?

( thought I may as well post it here, no point making a new post with same topic eh ;)

The Logitech G7 is/was the best cordless mouse on the market, unfortunately you can't buy it new (at least not in the UK any more although I've heard rumours it might be available in the States) so you may have to look at the MX Revolution which isn't as good.

totoro (after the film?) about the closest I can find to what you are looking for in a mouse would be the LX8 which looks to be symmetrical from that picture. Or the LX710 Laser combo for both together. You'd need to do a bit more checking yourself to see if they are indeed properly symmetrical.

G7 is the best, but discontinued in the UK. But it is for right handers only.

Good luck, can't think of any other good gaming wireless mouse, not sure there even is one.

My bro-in-law has the G7. I was sceptical to start with that it'd be good for gaming but was very surprised by just how good it is. The battery didn't seem to last very long though, but it comes with its own charger (doesn't take standard batteries but uses square Li-ion things) and a spare battery which is useful.

As said, discontinued in Blighty sadly but you can still get them on an auction site. Well worth it, imo.

Yep, after the film :)

They look pretty good to me. I will investigate further, thanks.

I have seen a rather elegant solution which might work, made by Keysonic. It's basically a wireless keyboard and touchpad; imagine a laptop without the screen. Only downside is that it looks laptop sized, so no numpad, but it would be decent enough for general use while still leaving a corded mouse for games.

Thread about it here. Unfortunately it's only available on OCuK ocmpetitor sites, so I cant link directly...hopefully linking to avforums is allowed?

I didnt know wired mice were faster than wireless till reading this thread.. by how much?

I always thought the only difference was with a wire you didnt have to worry about battery life.

It's not a huge amount; I doubt most people would notice. But in fast paced gamed, I notice a slight lag in mouse movement.

I've had the Logitech G7 for coming on 3 years now. Never had a problem with it and it's awesome for gaming. Didn't know it was discounted over here, though, as I was going to buy the black version

I have a G7 Carbon Edition and can only sing it's praises. However it would be nice if there were two buttons ont he side like the mx510 etc :)
