Core 2 CPUs, VRD11?

Hi all
I have just discovered that my motherboard is an LGA 775 socket MTB, with a 945P type chipset. this supports CONRE!!!! (w00t)

HOWEVER, and this is a big BUT, apparently for a motherboard to be Core 2 compatible it needs to support this new voltage circuitry thing called VRD11 - to deal with Core 2's significantly lower voltage requirements.

I dont know whether my motherboard has this, is there any way of checking this?
If so, then I might just start crying with joy, because it will mean that I can get a Core 2 (yay!)
If not then I might cry with sorrow...

I wouldn't be too excited tbh, chances are if you bought your mobo before C2D is released it won't have the VRM11 required for C2D. Best thing to do is to check the manufacturer's website.

Well it IS a Dell one *shudder*

People are putting Core 2s into the slightly newer models of what I have, so there MIGHT be a chance, but I dont want to spend the money on something that wont work...
I would rather spend it on an 8800 GTS

In that case it almost certainly won't support conroe as they will want you to just buy a new DELL.

Yeah a 8800GTS is a better investment if you game a lot, although the DELL PSU could be a problem.

I knew the Dell PSU would be a problem.
Which is why if you look at my sig you will see that I have replaced it - 550 watt Cooler Master RealPower SLI PSU, with 3 12v rails, giving a total of 30 amps over the rails - this should be ok methinks

it was hell to fit (I had to unscrew the CPU heatsink to route the cables), but I beat Dell in the end, they cannot stop me surgically removing all traces of "DELL" from that rig! They can try, but I WILL win eventually!
