Core 2 duo cpu, for below 100 quid, MUST do at least 3ghz, and must do that @ 400 fsb

As title really, had to give back my borrowed E6400 and cpu-less in my main pc, I'd really like an E6400 or 6420 as it exactly evens out @ 3,2 ghz @ 400mhz fsb. The reason I want to run 400 mhz fsb is beacuse exactly at that fsb, there's no cold boot bug on my asus p5b deluxe, and my ram runs exactly @ native speeds, I don't want to kill my 5 hdd's by letting them spin up more than 9 times (assuming a normall day with 3 boots) a day, my hdd's smart data already shows they've been powered up thousands of times more than the average pc...

Is there any cpu that has the same multi as the 6400's or 1 up-down and that will CERTAINLY run @ exactly 400 mhz fsb with 1.35-1.45 volts ?

And the cpu must costs less than 140 euro's ( 100 quid), I don't mind 2nd hand...

Well you could get an E4600 - 11x multi, 2.2Ghz stock speed, theoretical 4400Mhz@400FSB (not that it'll ever GET that far unless you have some particularly gruesome plans for that CPU).

Seems OCUK don't stock that particular CPU, then again the E4500 has a 10x multi so 4000mhz@400FSB (again, theoretical) may be an option. The E2180 has the 10x for less money but half the cache.

Ah damn, I forgot all about that, I forgot you can lower the multi lmao, the 2180 sounds like the most sensible choice now, any idea's if it'll work fine on 400 (1600 mhz quadpumped) mhz with a multi of 8 or higher ( for 3.2 ghz ? ).
Do these c2d's have an actual fsb limit, the lower end ones, in contrast to a clockspeed limit ?

Yep, as in sig.

Hmmm sorry to ask but for 10 € more ( 85€) I can go pickup another E6400, is the 7 quid worth the double cache?

Hmmm got an even better reply to a bid, I'm allowed to pick an E6420 up for 75€ same price as an E2180 but it's 50 miles away...

Don't trust postages hence I want to pick it up...
75€ (50quid) is good for an E6420 though right?

Have you tried 9x 400 for 3.6ghz?

Yeh, but unfortunately I couldn't get it stable even with 1.5v.
I can get 3.4Ghz out of it, but that seems to be the limit on this chip.
I just didn't think the extra 200Mhz was worth the voltage hike from 1.325v for my 3.2Ghz OC to 1.45v to hit 3.4Ghz.

Hello, well I got the E6420 for 50 quid but atm having trouble getting over 2.88 ghz

atm running 360 fsb, 1.4375 volts, with a max load temp of 47C.

What's the max safe voltage limit for a c2d without risking blowing it to smithereens ?
I'd like 3ghz at least tbh....

Also oddly, I tried 400 mhz fsb with an 7 multi, wich would give me 2.8 ghz, it didn't work, wich somehow points at the cpu not being able to handle a higher fsb :S.
I'm sure it's not my board or ram both ran 400 mhz without problems for weeks with the E6400.

Got to 3 ghz, cpu on 1.45 V, still nice temps 53 C during load so I'm gona try 1.5 V and 3.2 first thing in the morning. Been gaming all day on 3ghz it seems stable enough for me so far...
