Hey chaps.

looking at building a nice system but don't want to spend a great deal of cash and was looking at the Core 2 Duo's nice new range and I was thinking of building a Base Unit around the E2140 with 2GB memory and a X2600XT just for playing World in Conflict and general video encoding etc.

Would this chip be upto the job?

Hey Chaps.

Thanks for the quick response.

Not really an overclocker to be honest just want a stable system.

Would like some advice though on a motherboard and memory to use with the E2140 Chip.

Only want to play World in Conflict and general Video Encoding and application use.

Looking at spending £270 on a decent and complete new base unit.

Will consider integrated graphics for the time being though as i'm not in any great rush to play games yet.

Must be compatible with the E2140 out of the box with no need to flash the BIOS to make it work etc.

You can overclock and have a stable system y'know... overclocking the E2140 to 3ghz pays huge dividends, especially for gaming and encoding.

Spend an extra few quid and get the E2180 with the 10 x multi, will make overclocking a breeze.

In short yes they are great budget chips for gaming.

Ok, I'll try and redeem my self :)

Right with the amount specified this would be a good system.

i have chosen the 1950 pro over the 2600 as its a lot better, see HERE

This is the spec i would choose, not sure what psu you have but a good 350+ should be fine.

if you need case, PSU, hdd, and opticals then its going to be hard.

Can't you just build your own and thus get a 10x better system for your money?
