Core 2 Duo Heatsink Same as Core Quad

the base on the quad stock cooler is larger to cover both chips better, the duo cooler is smaller so wont cover both chips fully

Does it not depends on which Core 2 Duo heatsink he has? I thought the copper core Core 2 Duo HS from E6xxx were the same as the ones shipped with the Q6600?

The E4xxx heatsinks don't have the copper core and probably wont handle the quad.

Oh and everybody will tell you to get a decent aftermarket cooler afor a Q6600 anyways :p

The Quads have the same stock heatsink as the top end 65nm duals.
Be aware however that there are 2 different stock heatsinks, one has a copper base, other does not and is all ali.
Turn the heatsink over if you see a copper slug about 1" in diameter that is the 'good' stock heatsink.

It is the one with the copper base that ships with the quads and the more expensive duals.
The copper one also shipped with the older pentium d's

Now we have a third variant, a half height one shipped with the Celerons and new 45nm duals.
Do not use one of them on a Q6600
