Both these cpu have both the same core speed and cache size.
Just wondered how this chip compared to a desktop C2D range as the laptop I'm thinking about getting has this mobile chip.

Also, How CPU limited would SLI 8800m GTX be with a T7700?

In the real world, the e6600 would be paired up with a newer chipset and faster ram, making it faster. It also has the 1066 fsb against the 800 on the t7700.

m1730/m17x? :p

Running at 1920x1200 with the details shoved on max, the system should perform quite well. However, If you're going to spend that much money on a laptop might as well pair it up with a penryn cpu or even the EE.

M1730:)

They want a whopping 470 for a x9000 2.8Ghz or w/e its called which is over a pound a mhz lol.

Guess I'll haggle and see what happens;)

You can order them from stores for around £400

Saves you £70 and whatever you gain from selling the t7700. :D:p

Good luck with the m1730, mine was so bad I returned it. :)

Of topic...

What didn't you like about the m1730?
Quite allot. :p
  • The speed of two 8700m gt's was slower than my old 7950gtx
  • Abysmal battery life compared to my faster-on-battery m1710
  • Totally unable to use the gpu's on battery, other, slower laptops were able to get higher fps at the same settings
  • Constant crashing and freezing
  • I got a terrible quality screen on mine
  • Soundcard is one from the pits of hell; constant clicking, whining, humming and skipping. It got much worse when you tried high quality settings.
  • Next to non existent driver support from dell meant there were no whql driver available (so no blu ray) and you had to stick to modded desktop drivers which seemed to be 'broken' on the laptop
  • With the psu, it weighs more than my car
But a board revision, 3 bios revisions, 2 sets of working whql drivers and dual 8800m gtx later. I am considering ordering another one. :p:D

Meh....I'm a sucker for pretty flashing lights, The Dell m1730 is to sexy compared to the Clevo 901c which I'm guessing is the chassis Rock will be using:p
