core 2 duo or single cpu for gaming

Hi I can only afford a E2180 conroe 2.0 at the mo would it be better to go for single core and higher MHz if you want gaming performance?
 
Well you swayed me semi-pro waster, forgot folk are overclocking these to 2.6 from what I have read and I probably have more frequent use for core 2 duo when burning/surfing/and other stuff at that price it,s a good start.
