Core 2 Duo question

Hi just a quick question if anyone knows, can you get 1GHZ core 2 duo CPU's?

Why would you want 1Ghz?

Could maybe downclock one to 1Ghz, it would need hardly any voltage and probably run passive on most coolers.

I think E2140 1.6Ghz is the lowest.

I don't want to buy one, I'm looking at a mac book on fleBay and the guy has it listed as a 1GHz core 2 duo, i didn't realize they went that low?

Hes most likely reading the cpu when its running speedstep, the cpu will be stepped down to a 6 multiplier if its running a 166MHz bus (1GHz clock).

It could be running an ultra low power c2d mobile processor (U7XXX), lowest speed being the 1.06GHz U7500 cpu, but I doubt it.

Or possibly he's made a mistake/pulling a fast one, and it's not really a c2d
