Core 2 Duo upgrade time? + HSF?

Hi

Ive had my AMD64 3400+ for 2 yrs now, its not OC'ed the chip just won't OC! Im wondering if theres anyone out there who has came from a simular speed CPU and upgraded to a E6300 if they could tell me if the difference in performance was worth the money?

Im looking to upgrade in about a months time, ive already seen that the gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 is the best board from on here with ppl raving about it how it OCs well.... Quite funny I remember when pretty much everyone was slagging off gigabyte boards!

Also whats the best HSF fan? Im reading Zalman CNPS9500 LED Aero Flower and the ninja are good.. is one better than the other or are there any better ones? Space in the case is not a worry I have a stacker.

Performance for a decent overclocked duo 2 chip is quite staggering over any A64 system. Wether you require the extra power is for you to decide.

Thats good to know Wellibob.. I think I would make good use of the extra power. My main reason for the upgrade is for flight sim X but I do a lot of multitasking and im finding with my DJing, scanning mp3 files for the waveform is sluggish.

I now have to wait 3 weeks and 4 days as I can't really afford to buy DS3 mobo and E6300 at the mo. Gonna be a long wait! Decided to get the RAM first as the trend seems to be RAM prices are rising... even though I missed out on the deal of the week on it only by 5hrs .

*sits tight for a long wait!* Only bonus is prices might come down abit!
