Can you run a Core 2 Duo with PC2700 Ram? I know I may not get the full features of the cpu, but will it run and will it be ok, or do I need ddr2?

I plan to make a stage by stage upgrade, so hoping to keep my old ram for a while.

Thanks

Currently have a 2600xp, looking to upgrade to a Dual core, the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA board has two slots for both DDR and DDR2.

Just needed to make sure i could still run the computer with the ram i have, can then look to upgrade that in a few months.

I've run an 805 with DDR and it didnt work as well as ddr2 despite the ram being run at the same speed. It was an asrock board I think their the only ones who do it, ati chipset

pi times were about 20 seconds worse at the same speeds, I hope they solved this now and there wasnt any other problem

I really hope thats your firewall/routing rig mate. With 665 posts you deserve to treat yourself to a little something more.

Or do you have something even worse... ...a life?

Theres something cool about your rig Surfer, you rinning Linux or 95?

<Hijack over, sorry>

Its just a web browser machine I got for free - about 10 years old, it still does a good job considering. I think I'll play half life on it, I never did finish it :) I got stuck at the bit you have to crouch jump, confusing because its actually jump crouch lol

I'm looking into conroe next but I sold my ddr as I wasnt confident with this option tbh but its not a bad idea if you dont want to upgrade all at once and be stuck without a proper machine like me
