Right,
everytime i look in general hardware, how come i also ways see people have computer problem's and i read them and they are all core 2 duo's? i fort they where the best cpu's out? how come every 1 is havin problems with them with bootin them up?

/moan over

Chopper

Because it's the most popular CPU that people are using to build PCs with. The more people that buy it, the more people are going to come on here having trouble.

right? i see i suppose? but most of the time, they are the same problems as every 1 else's? wouldnt be easyer just to search for a thread? then writein 1 up?

all these's problems with core 2 duo cpu's have put me off it for a while.. i just stick with my p4 its still good and works still :)

core 2 duo is great i went from pentium 4 to it built in few hours and no problems at all except a sound issue which was my own fault

like what was already said its the most popular cpu at the moment so more questions are going to come up

if you look at when amd was top dog the forum was the sam full of questions

The conroe is too fast for me. It's scary! sometimes at night I have nightmares that the PC will process information so fast, it will rip a hole in the time/space continuem and the world as we know it will cease to exist.

It's not worth the risk.

Just people sayin pc wont post and that :( i will probally upgrade sometime to it, when the p4 is dead

if a pc doesn't post it is very, very rarely the CPU's fault..... Intel or AMD.............

To the OP, judging by your join date you've not been around here long enough to notice the trends in this place.

Once upon a time, not so long ago in fact, AMD CPUs were the most popular, so guess what - most of the problems in here were related to AMD CPUs. Now it's Core 2 and the same applies. Also, the most common problems (won't boot, no power, etc. etc.) are by definition going to be the most commonly posted.

All you're seeing here is the results of the popularity, not some inherent faults in Core 2. I'd expect nothing less.

IIRC there may have been a few guys with dodgy core 2's out of the few thousand OcUK have sold, what your seeing is the result of the folks buying them running them and the motherboards at speeds they maybe shouldnt hence lots of "My pc wont post" etc, once theyre all fine tuned and found the maximums you'll see a shed load of posts like "My c2d gets 12000 in 3d06 is this good?"

And so the computer world moves on till the next super duper piece of wallet sapping hardware comes our way :D

Pretty simple really:

Most problems with failing to POST will be for new or upgraded systems that the user has just built, rather than an existing rig keeling over.

Now, most New or Upgraded systems will be C2D, because that's the best platform at the moment and that's what people are buying.

Bear in mind that a lot of problems with POST on new builds can be down to user error rather than the technology involved. It could be C2D, X2 or whatever and it wouldn't make a lot of difference if they've not wired up the switches correctly, shorted the mobo or whatever.

Also remember that a lot of people come to these forums seeking advice on a first build, or in my case, when I've not built a new PC for a year or two and am unfamiliar with the current technology.

It's easy to overlook stuff like the default voltages on the mobo not being high enough.

My Core2Duo processor rocks my socks to be honest. As soon as I open up a lot of my stuff it's there as soon as I release the left mouse button on the double click :)
