Core 2 Quad power saving software?

I have just upgraded to vista and i was tinkering with the power saving options...

Is there any software that can turn off cores to save power?

I understand that core 2 quads are just 2 duos, so i imagine you can only turn 2 off at a time.

you cant enable/disable cores while windows is running, speedstep reduces the multi to 6 when idle though

dont know about other motherboard but you can run a quad and boot into windows with just 1 core enabled....

though to enable and disable cores its done via bios only

you can do it in boot.ini on xp by using the /NUMPROC= parameter, not sure how to do it on vista though

On the Asus Striker II Formula you can turn cores On or Off from Windows.
