I was going to buy the pre-built system here:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-038-OK

but it didn't quite have the components I wanted.
Below is what I'm thinking:

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £99.86
Intel Core 2 Quadro Extreme Edition QX6700 - Retail £657.99
Scythe Infinity Heatpipe CPU Cooler £34.06
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) £187.99
BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) £98.69
Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £61.09
Samsung SH-S182D 18x18 DVD±RW ReWriter (Black) - OEM £19.96
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black £57.56
Seasonic S12 600W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply £93.99
Sony Floppy Drive - Black Sony Floppy Drive - Black £5.86
Microsoft Windows Vista Business 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - £93.99

Shipping cost : £10.95
Vat : £212.07
Total : £1,423.91

The motherboard and RAM don't need huge overclocking potential - at the most I may try to get the quad to 3.0 from 2.67 stock.

I thought the Gigabyte motherboard was a good idea for the solid capacitors.

For RAM, since I'm not after extreme overclocking, maybe the GSkill PC5400 very low latency 3-4-3-8 RAM is better

Suggestions and comments welcome

thanks !

EDIT: I don't think that Seasonic PSU is modular, I'll look for something else

if it were my money i'd save a few quid and get the E6600 and maybe spend a little more on a gfx card.

Thanks for the reply !

I specifically need a quad, and it isn't a gaming machine - hence my selection. I should have made that clearer. I could have gone a 7300GS for the video actually and saved a little.
